Folacid Meta (calcium L-methylfolate) is ready for direct absorption by the body, even in the presence of an MTHFR mutation that disrupts the metabolism of ordinary folic acid. Folacid Meta contributes to higher folate levels in the body of the expectant mother. Low folate levels are a risk factor for the development of a neural tube defect in the foetus called spina bifida.

What should we know about folic acid?
Folic acid is an important water-soluble vitamin that plays an essential role in DNA synthesis and cell division. It is especially important during pregnancy because it supports the proper development of the fetal neural tube and helps reduce the risk of congenital defects of the nervous system.
Some women have a mutation in the MTHFR gene that makes it more difficult to convert folic acid into its active form – 5-MTHF (methylfolate). In such cases, direct intake of methylated folic acid is recommended, as it is utilized more efficiently and provides the necessary support for the fetus even in the presence of this genetic variation.
Folic acid also supports cardiovascular health and participates in the formation of red blood cells in the bone marrow. Folic acid deficiency may lead to megaloblastic anemia, in which red blood cells do not form normally and remain immature. It also helps lower blood homocysteine levels, high levels of which may increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Folacid Meta is a food supplement, 90 tablets. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store in a dry and ventilated place at a temperature below 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use as a substitute for a varied diet. Do not use after the date indicated on the packaging.
