What should we know about viral and bacterial infections?
Pathogens are microorganisms or other agents that can cause disease in the body. They include viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites. Viral and bacterial infections are among the most common illnesses caused by these pathogens.
Viruses that cause acute respiratory infections are among the most widespread causes of illness, especially during the winter months. They include thousands of types, the most common of which are influenza viruses, rhinoviruses, adenoviruses and coronaviruses. When infection occurs, they cause symptoms such as a runny nose, cough, sore throat, high temperature and general malaise. They spread easily through respiratory droplets, by coughing, sneezing or contact with contaminated surfaces. They are most common in autumn and winter, when people spend more time indoors and conditions favor the spread of viruses.
Treatment of viral infections is symptomatic and etiological (directed against the causative agent). Products are used to relieve symptoms such as pain, fever, nasal congestion, cough and others, but they do not affect the cause of the disease. The most effective approach to treating viral infections is to use etiological agents – antiviral medicines that fight viruses and support the immune system. It is extremely important to start them at the first symptoms in order to reduce discomfort and the duration of illness. Antibiotics have no effect on viral infections; they are prescribed only in cases of complications (when a bacterial infection is superimposed, i.e. a so-called superinfection). The best prevention remains regular hygiene, avoiding contact with ill people, vaccination and immune support.
Bacteria are single-celled organisms that can function and reproduce independently. Symptoms of bacterial respiratory infections also include high temperature, sore throat, runny nose and redness in the affected area. Treatment is usually carried out with antibiotics, which destroy bacteria or stop their growth. However, excessive use of antibiotics may lead to the development of resistant bacteria, making prevention and appropriate treatment even more important.
Stamatin is a food supplement, 30 capsules. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Store in a dry and ventilated place at a temperature below 25°C. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not use as a substitute for a varied diet. Do not use after the date indicated on the packaging.
